Why NFC beats manual entry
Typing your passport number by hand is slow and error-prone — a single typo can block your onboarding for days. NFC reads data straight from the chip and verifies it cryptographically, which is why Wickie (and most regulated platforms) prefer it.
When NFC isn't available
Very old documents without a chip — or Android phones without NFC hardware — need the manual photo-based verification flow. Wickie automatically falls back to that if NFC isn't possible.
